Multi-channel Attack

« Back to Glossary Index

A multi-channel attack or multi-vector attack, is a cyberattack that uses multiple entry points to compromise a target’s security. The threat actor targets multiple entries simultaneously to increase the chances of success.

Example:

An attacker wants to gain unauthorized access to Doreen’s credit card information and initiate a multi-channel attack on her. They use different channels to try and trick her into revealing her credit card details. They do this by sending phishing emails, text messages and even making a phone call posing as a bank representative.

Prevention Tips:

  • Trust your instincts.
  • Keep your software and apps updated.
  • Don’t click on suspicious links in emails or text messages.
  • Don’t reveal sensitive information, especially via phone calls.
